South-South Stakeholders Prepare For Flood

South-South stakeholders in Nigeria are gearing up for potential floods, with plans for advanced stage evacuations in communities at risk. Stakeholders from Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers states have responded to disaster predictions by conducting surveys and preparing for evacuation.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been assessing communities and desilting drains to reduce flooding risks. Public enlightenment campaigns are also being carried out to educate residents on actions to take to minimize the impact of flooding.

NEMA officials in Uyo and Rivers have emphasized the importance of preparedness and early warning systems to save lives. The proactive measures being taken include community sensitization, flood simulations, and enhanced warning systems.
