NEMA Receives 37 Nigerian Returnees from Türkiye

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) received 37 Nigerian nationals returning from the Republic of Türkiye at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on a chartered aircraft. This event was part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to facilitate the orderly return of Nigerian citizens.

NEMA's Abuja Operations Office activated a coordinated reception mechanism involving relevant government agencies and humanitarian partners to ensure a dignified reception for the returnees. This included documentation, profiling, medical screening, and immediate humanitarian assistance before handing them over to appropriate authorities for reintegration.

Pharm. Zakari Abubakar, Head of NEMA Abuja Operations Office, emphasized the agency's commitment to treating returning Nigerians with dignity and respect.

He encouraged returnees to embrace the opportunity for a fresh start and utilize government support programs. The reception involved collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, and other stakeholders, reflecting the Federal Government's continued efforts to support distressed Nigerians abroad.
