NEMA Receives 37 Nigerian Returnees from Türkiye

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) received 37 Nigerian returnees from Türkiye at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. This return is part of the Nigerian government's ongoing efforts to ensure the safe and orderly repatriation of its citizens.

The returnees arrived on a chartered aircraft following an official notification from the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. NEMA activated a coordinated reception mechanism that involved relevant government agencies and humanitarian partners to ensure a dignified and humane reception process.

The reception exercise included documentation, profiling, medical screening, and the provision of immediate humanitarian assistance to support the returnees before the commencement of reintegration processes by other relevant agencies. Mr.

Zakari Abubakar, the Head of NEMA Abuja Operations Office, reaffirmed the agency's commitment to safeguarding the dignity and welfare of vulnerable persons through effective inter-agency collaboration and commended the strong collaboration among participating agencies.
