NEPC Launches STEP-X to Equip Nigerian Students for Exports

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has initiated the Students Training Entrepreneurship Export Programme (STEP-X) to empower Nigerian youths with essential skills for the global export market. Mrs Nonye Ayeni, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of NEPC, announced the program in a statement signed by Aliu Seidu Sadiq, the council’s deputy director and head of corporate communications.
The program aims to address the knowledge gaps in export procedures, documentation, and quality standards among students. The theme for STEP-X is “From Campus to Global Market: Empowering Nigerian Students for Non-Oil Export and Global Entrepreneurship,” and it will be implemented across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.
The maiden edition saw participation from over 250 students from higher institutions in Lagos and Ogun states. Mr Damilare Orimoloye, the Minister of Youth Development and APC Youth Leader in Lagos, encouraged students to leverage export opportunities, while Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, NANS National President, praised the initiative.
