NANS Commends NEPC for Youth Empowerment Initiatives

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) commended Mrs Nonye Ayeni, the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), for her leadership and dedication to youth development during a recent courtesy call in Abuja. Comrade Oladimeji Fodio, the secretary-general of NANS, highlighted the NEPC's efforts in enhancing the non-oil export sector and providing opportunities for youth and women.

He proposed a partnership with NEPC to train Nigerian students in export value chains, emphasizing that youths make up over 60% of Nigeria's population. Fodio requested the establishment of export hubs on university campuses and proposed a national summit titled “Students Export & Entrepreneurship Initiative.” In response, Mrs Ayeni acknowledged the vibrant nature of Nigerian youths and confirmed NEPC's willingness to collaborate.

She outlined various NEPC programs aimed at youth empowerment, including the Export Skills Acquisition Centre (ESAC), which has trained over 1,000 youths in garment and bag making, resulting in products exported internationally.
