NEPC's Mrs. Ayeni Leads EEG Scheme Restructuring Efforts

The Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NEPC, Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, convened a stakeholder engagement on the Export Expansion Grant (EEG) Scheme in Abuja, following directives from the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole. This meeting aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to address outstanding issues related to the EEG Scheme and work towards its restructuring.

Ayeni emphasized the historical significance of the EEG in supporting Nigerian exporters and enhancing the competitiveness of non-oil exports. She acknowledged the federal government's renewed focus on export growth and economic diversification, asserting that the export incentive framework must be credible, transparent, sustainable, and responsive to exporters' needs.

Ayeni recognized existing liabilities and claims and stressed the importance of establishing a framework for clarity and efficiency for exporters. She commended Nigerian exporters for their resilience and noted significant growth in non-oil exports, including an increase in product variety and international market destinations.
