NEPZA and NAFDAC Strengthen Pharmaceutical Regulations

The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have rekindled their partnership to strengthen regulations concerning pharmaceuticals and consumables manufactured within Nigeria's free trade zones. This decision was made during a courtesy visit by Prof.

Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director General of NAFDAC, to Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi, the Managing Director/CEO of NEPZA, at NEPZA headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.

Prof. Adeyeye expressed the need for enhanced cooperation to help NAFDAC fulfill its regulatory functions, including overseeing the import and export of products within the free trade zones.

She emphasized the importance of conducting appropriate tests to ensure compliance with established standards and to protect citizens from counterfeit drugs. Both agencies aim to streamline monitoring and improve inspection processes across product lines to address any anomalies in the delivery of quality medical supplies within these zones.
