NAFDAC and NHIA Collaborate to Improve Healthcare Access

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced a partnership with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to enhance access to quality healthcare across Nigeria. This collaboration was highlighted during a courtesy visit by NHIA's Director General, Dr.

Kelechi Ohiri, to NAFDAC's Director General, Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, in Abuja.

Prof. Adeyeye underscored the critical role of NAFDAC and the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) in ensuring the procurement process of medicines is regulated to curb the circulation of counterfeit and expired drugs.

She expressed concerns regarding the challenges Nigerians face in accessing quality healthcare services, particularly under the NHIA scheme, and reaffirmed NAFDAC's commitment to strengthening partnerships with relevant government agencies. Dr.

Ohiri commended Prof. Adeyeye's leadership in safeguarding public health through the regulation of medicinal products.
