Xavi Hernández Named Netherlands Coach Until 2030 World Cup

Xavi Hernández has been appointed as the head coach of the Netherlands National Football Team, signing a contract that extends through the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This appointment makes him the first foreign coach to lead the Dutch national team in 48 years, succeeding Ronald Koeman, who left after the Netherlands' disappointing early exit from the 2026 World Cup.

Xavi, 46, is recognized as one of the most decorated midfielders of his generation and has a strong philosophical connection to Dutch football, influenced by Johan Cruyff's principles. His coaching career includes a successful tenure at Barcelona, where he won the La Liga title in the 2022/23 season and the Spanish Super Cup.

Xavi's role with the Netherlands will be his first in international management, and he is tasked with rebuilding the team's confidence and establishing a clear footballing identity following their early elimination from the World Cup.
