New Commander Ajase Takes Charge of Joint Task Force

Major General Ajase has assumed command at the headquarters of the Joint Task Force, North-East, in Maiduguri, succeeding Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, who served for 17 months. Ajase committed to strengthening collaboration with security agencies, government institutions, development partners, the media, and communities to enhance security in the region.

Abubakar, during a press briefing marking his departure, reported significant achievements, including the return of over 7,000 displaced families and the surrender of more than 5,000 terrorists and their associates. He noted the reopening of markets, supply routes, and schools as indicators of improved security.

Abubakar also mentioned the discovery and detonation of over 300 explosive devices and the interception of more than N350 million linked to terrorist financiers. He attributed these successes to the support of military leadership and stakeholders, expressing confidence in Ajase's infantry background and experience.

The Borno State Commissioner for Information, Professor Usman Tar, commended Abubakar's service and commitment to peace.
