New Nigeria Group Urges Candidate Scrutiny for 2027 Elections

The New Nigeria Group (NNG), led by Sam Ohuabunwa, has repositioned itself to encourage scrutiny of candidates for the upcoming 2027 elections. During an interaction with journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Ohuabunwa explained that the group's vision dates back to 2009 when he authored a book titled "Nigeria 50: Time to Evolve a New Nation." The NNG aims to promote a better Nigeria by fostering a product-driven economy and encouraging citizens to critically examine the qualifications and character of individuals seeking public office.

Ohuabunwa emphasized the need for unity and inclusivity across ethnic, religious, and social lines. The group remains non-partisan and is composed of politically conscious individuals from various ideological backgrounds.

The NNG plans to formally relaunch its activities in May, providing an opportunity for members to review political developments ahead of the elections.
