New IGP Appointment Praised by Analyst Osuolale

Alhaji Akeem Osuolale, a prominent land investor and public affairs analyst, praised President Bola Tinubu's decision to appoint a new Inspector General of Police (IGP). In an interview with Blueprint on Monday in Lagos, Osuolale described the appointment as a bold and timely intervention capable of restoring discipline and public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

He expressed expectations for significant transformations in security operations under the new IGP, who possesses the necessary operational experience to confront the rising crime rates and internal lapses within the police force. Osuolale highlighted the critical need for a police chief who understands field operations and can make firm decisions during a period marked by increasing insecurity and violent crime across communities.

He criticized past assignments of officers to key commands without adequate operational backgrounds, which he believes have negatively impacted crime-fighting efforts, especially in major cities.
