Tinubu Charges New Police Chief Tunji Disu on Security

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu officially charged the newly appointed acting Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, to enhance the Nigeria Police Force's effectiveness in combating banditry, terrorism, and criminal activities. The decoration ceremony took place at the State House in Abuja at 4:00 PM, where Tinubu expressed confidence in Disu's ability to restore public trust in the police.

He outlined specific expectations, including discipline, inter-agency collaboration, and a commitment to ensuring safety and property protection. Tinubu acknowledged the significant challenges ahead but assured Disu of full support in advancing security initiatives.

He also highlighted the importance of a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption within the force. The outgoing Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, expressed confidence in Disu's capabilities and noted that he would excel in his new role.

Egbetokun had submitted his resignation the previous Tuesday, citing family issues that required his undivided attention.
