Nigerian Lawyer Denies New INEC Chairman's Alleged Tie to Tinubu's Legal Team

Babatunde Ogala, a senior advocate in Nigeria, has denied allegations that Professor Amupitan, the newly nominated INEC Chairman, was involved in defending President Bola Tinubu at the 2023 election tribunal. Ogala clarified that Amupitan was not part of Tinubu's legal team, dismissing the circulating reports as false.

Amupitan, a 58-year-old professor of law at the University of Jos, is set to take over from Professor Mahmood Yakubu as the head of INEC pending Senate confirmation.
