Nigerian Senate Confirms Joash Ojo Amupitan as New INEC Chairman

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after President Bola Tinubu's nomination. Amupitan, a law professor, aims to strengthen voter education, expand civic training, and encourage greater participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities in elections.

He emphasized the need for legislative intervention to improve electoral processes. The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, disclosed Amupitan's appointment during a plenary session.
