Aina Rejects UK Residency, Appointed JAMB Registrar

Aina, a professor of computer engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, declined to pursue permanent residency in the UK after living there for 11 years. He expressed a commitment to return to Nigeria to contribute to the country's development rather than build a permanent life overseas.

Aina, who holds a bachelor's degree in computer systems engineering from the University of Kent and a master's degree and PhD in digital signal processing from Loughborough University, emphasized his desire to impact Nigeria positively. He was appointed registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, following the completion of Professor Haq Oloyed's tenure.

Aina aims to oversee further digital transformation and reform within Nigeria's examination and admission systems, bridging the gap between academia and industry in a rapidly evolving technological environment.
