Neymar Doubtful for Brazil's World Cup Opener vs Morocco

Neymar, the 34-year-old forward for the Brazil National Team, is doubtful to start in the World Cup opener against Morocco on June 13 due to a grade two calf muscle injury. The injury was identified through an MRI scan and requires two to three weeks of treatment, as stated by the team's doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar.

Consequently, Neymar will miss Brazil's two pre-World Cup friendlies against Panama and Egypt. He joined the national team's training center just outside Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday but had missed his club Santos' last few matches due to a slight injury.

Brazil's coach Carlo Ancelotti included Neymar in the 26-man squad for the World Cup, despite concerns about his fitness, as Neymar has been left out of the national team for almost three years due to a mixture of injuries and poor form. He is Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer with 79 goals in 128 appearances.
