NFF Denies Demanding FIFA President Infantino's Resignation

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially dismissed false reports circulating on social media that it has requested FIFA President Gianni Infantino to resign. In a statement posted on its official X handle (#thenff) on Saturday, the NFF stated, “Contrary to reports, especially on social media, #thenff has never asked and is not asking for #FIFAcom President, Mr. Gianni Infantino to step down as FIFA PRESIDENT.

This is outright falsehood. Kindly disregard.” This clarification comes in the context of increased global scrutiny of Infantino's leadership, particularly following a controversial proposal to sell commercial rights linked to the World Cup, which has since been abandoned.

While several European football associations, including Norway, have called for Infantino's resignation, others, including the Confederation of African Football, continue to support him. Nigerian football fans reacted to the NFF's statement on social media, expressing skepticism about the NFF's motives and integrity.
