Iwobi Matches Salah's Premier League Appearance Record

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has congratulated Super Eagles midfielder Alexander Iwobi after he equaled Mohamed Salah's record as the African player with the second-most appearances in the English Premier League. Iwobi achieved this milestone during Fulham's 1-0 victory against Coventry City, bringing his total to 328 appearances.
He is now 25 matches behind Kolo Toure, the record holder with 353 appearances. Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, the NFF’s Acting General Secretary, praised Iwobi on X for this accomplishment and expressed hope that he will soon become the African player with the most Premier League appearances.
In addition to this achievement, Iwobi earned his 100th cap for Nigeria in a summer friendly against Portugal at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria. He performed well against Coventry, recording 60 touches, completing 51 passes, and achieving an 86.3 percent passing accuracy in 73 minutes of play.
Iwobi has also won one silver and two bronze medals with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.
