NFF Denies Calls for Infantino's Resignation

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has publicly dismissed reports suggesting it joined calls for FIFA President Gianni Infantino to resign, labeling these claims as false. In a statement released on its official X account on Saturday, the NFF clarified that it has neither demanded Infantino's resignation nor supported any campaign for his removal.

The federation urged the public to disregard the misleading reports. The NFF stated, “Contrary to reports, especially on social media, @thenff has never asked and is not asking for @FIFAcom President, Mr.

Gianni Infantino to step down as FIFA PRESIDENT.” This clarification comes amidst growing opposition to Infantino from some European football associations, particularly following controversy surrounding his FIFA Forward enterprise proposal. Despite this, the NFF has previously expressed support for Infantino’s leadership, with NFF President Ibrahim Gusau praising his “decade of transformative leadership” and nominating him for re-election as FIFA president in 2027.
