UEFA Demands Gianni Infantino's Resignation from FIFA

UEFA is reportedly on the verge of withdrawing its support for FIFA president Gianni Infantino and is demanding his resignation. High-ranking figures in European football are pushing for his removal, and sources indicate that CONCACAF member nations will not support Infantino's reelection bid next month.

This situation arises after Infantino was compelled to retract his controversial FIFA Forward Enterprise plan, which proposed offering a minority stake in FIFA's commercial operations and premier competitions, including the World Cup, to outside investors. The plan faced global backlash, with UEFA threatening to withdraw support from FIFA competitions if it proceeded.

The Asian Football Confederation and CONCACAF also condemned the proposal, citing concerns over governance and transparency. Within FIFA, Carlos Cordeiro, the organization’s top advisor, resigned in protest, and FIFA Chief Operating Officer Kevin Lamour publicly criticized the proposal.

As Infantino's leadership comes under scrutiny, UEFA's desire for his removal intensifies, alongside calls for action from other football federations.
