NFF Reveals Flamingos Squad for U-17 World Cup Qualifiers

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has unveiled a 36-player squad for the Flamingos as they prepare for the second round of qualifying fixtures for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup scheduled in Morocco from October 17 to November 7, 2023. Newly appointed head coach Akeem Busari has selected five goalkeepers, ten defenders, thirteen midfielders, and eight forwards to form the squad.

The Flamingos will face either Niger Republic or Guinea, with the first leg of the tie scheduled for the weekend, followed by the return leg in Conakri the following weekend. The winner of this matchup will advance to host Nigeria in the second round, with the first leg set for May 22-24 and the return leg on May 30.

Busari's selection marks a new era for the Flamingos following the departure of former coach Bankol Olowooker. The squad includes players from various domestic clubs, and the technical crew features former Nigeria international Jeged Idakwo as the first assistant coach and Aighewi Omodiagh as the second assistant.
