Nigeria Governors Forum Prioritizes Sugar for Industrial Development Across States

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has partnered with the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC) to focus on sugar as a catalyst for industrial growth in various states. The collaboration aims to advance sugar projects nationwide, with 11 states identified as suitable for profitable sugar production.

The NSDC proposed a partnership framework to support state governments in preparing for sugar projects and attracting investors. The NGF's Director-General, Abdulateef Shittu, highlighted the potential of the sugar sector to drive rural development and job creation.

The initiative seeks to leverage the improved economic conditions and stable global sugar prices to enhance the commercial viability of domestic sugar production.
