NGO Hails Benue Assembly’s Passage Of Disability Rights Bill

The NGO, Hope Alive Disability Initiative (HAPI), praised the Benue State House Assembly for passing the State Disability Rights Bill and urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to promptly sign it into law for swift implementation. HAPI's executive director, Aver Akighir, emphasized that the governor's quick approval would provide legal support for the activities of people with disabilities in the state.

The passage of the bill was described as a significant milestone towards ensuring dignity, equity, and justice for individuals with disabilities in Benue State. The advocacy efforts of various organizations, including the National Association of Persons with Disabilities Benue chapter, were acknowledged.

Governor Alia's commitment to addressing the needs of people with disabilities was also highlighted, with plans for the establishment of a Disability Commission outlined in the bill. Key figures, such as Barr Sunday Sabe and Jacintha Igwilo, commended the governor and the State Assembly for their roles in passing the bill.
