NGX Market Wrap 29-Oct-2026 | Plus234Feed

The Nigerian Exchange closed marginally lower at 252,121.94 points, declining 0.19% despite robust trading activity that generated ₦22.9 billion in value. A broad mix of gainers and losers reflected selective investor positioning across the market.
The NGX closed slightly softer today as the ASI retreated 0.19% to 252,121.94 points, though the session's underlying activity painted a picture of measured confidence. With 32,228 deals executed and over 305 million shares changing hands, market participants remained engaged despite the headline decline.
Technology and fintech stocks delivered the strongest performance. ETRANZACT led gainers with an impressive 10% surge, adding ₦1.60 to reach ₦17.60, suggesting renewed appetite for digital payment solutions. MCNICHOLS followed with a 9.18% climb to ₦5.35, while ZICHIS gained 8.24% to ₦18.40. VFDGROUP's 5.65% advance to ₦13.10 further underscored positive momentum in the financial services space.
On the downside, debt instruments and selective equities faced pressure. FGSUK2027S3 led declines with an 8.94% drop, shedding ₦8.46 to ₦86.20, reflecting potential bond market repositioning. REGALINS fell 8.82% to ₦0.62, while CILEASING retreated 7.41% to ₦5.00. FIRSTHOLDCO, despite leading volume at 46.9 million shares, declined 6.81% to ₦130.00, indicating heavy institutional profit-taking.
The market's resilience appears intact despite the marginal decline. GTCO and UBA maintained strong trading interest at 37.4 million and 24.4 million shares respectively, suggesting stable demand for large-cap stocks. Market capitalisation held steady at ₦163.7 trillion.
Investors should monitor whether selective strength in fintech and financial services can establish a broader rally in the next session.
