NIALS to Honor Professor Akande at 2026 Lecture

The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) has announced plans to host a memorial lecture in honor of the late Professor Jadesola Olayinka Akande, OFR, a renowned scholar whose contributions to constitutional law in Nigeria are widely respected. The event will be convened by Professor Abdulqadir Ibrahim Abikan, representing the institute's governing council.

The theme of the lecture will focus on the constitution, rule of law, and democratic governance in Nigeria, reflecting the legacy of Professor Akande. The lecture will be delivered by Olaid Abass Gbadamosi, a professor of law at Osun State University.

The event will take place under the distinguished chairmanship of Professor Abiola Olaitan Sanni, SAN, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Lagos. Special guest of honor, Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello, is also expected to attend.

The memorial lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Ayo Ajomo Auditorium located on the University of Lagos campus in Akoka, Lagos.
