NIDCOM Demands Release of 42 Nigerians Arrested in Mozambique

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has condemned the arrest of 42 Nigerians in Mozambique, calling for their immediate release. The chairperson of NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, characterized the incident as disturbing, noting that no offenses had been reported against the detained individuals.

A statement issued from Abuja on Sunday, March 8, and signed by the agency's Director of Media and Public Relations, Abdur Rahman Balogun, highlighted that the arrests were allegedly made without legal justification. Dabiri-Erewa urged Mozambican authorities to either release the detainees immediately or ensure that due process is followed.

She called for urgent action from the Mozambican government to address the situation and guarantee the safety and rights of the detained Nigerians.
