Fulani Attacks Continue in Niger State Despite Peace Efforts

Six people were killed in a recent communal clash between the Fulani and Kamuki communities in Rafi Local Government, Niger State. The violence erupted when the Fulani launched attacks on Kamuki on a Wednesday, breaking a truce facilitated by the Niger State Government.

Alhaji Garba Mohammed Bissalla, the Village Head of Tashan-Rimi, confirmed the fatalities, including Musa Bahago and his son, Hamisu Musa. Bissalla expressed surprise at the attacks, noting that the Kamuki leadership had adhered to peace directives from Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.

Despite the establishment of a reconciliatory committee by the governor following previous deadly incidents, Bissalla stated that the measures have not been effective, as violence continues unabated. He criticized the lack of concrete actions to investigate the ongoing Fulani-Kamuki crisis and highlighted the absence of laws to prevent further escalation and killings.
