Niger Governor Encourages Dry Season Farming to Boost Crop Yields

Niger State Governor Moham Umar Bago is urging farmers to focus on dry season farming and livestock production in the lower Niger Basin to enhance crop yields and income. The initiative aims to address the challenges faced by farmers, including low profits due to crashing food prices.

Governor Bago is providing support by distributing farm implements and relief materials through the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC). The effort also includes promoting safety measures to prevent boat mishaps and improve agricultural productivity in the state.

Dr. Matthew Ahm from the Ministry of Agriculture commended the intervention for enhancing food security and livelihoods in Niger State.
