NTA Reporter Assaulted by Governor Bago's Security Team

On Friday, during a Ramadan iftar at Wadata Palace in Bida Local Government Area, Musa Mikail, a senior reporter for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), was reportedly assaulted by security operatives associated with Niger State Governor Moham Umar Bago. The incident occurred as Mikail was standing with a cameraman when the governor's Chief Security Officer (CSO) approached him, requesting that he move and explaining that he was obstructing others.

Despite Mikail's assertion that he was carrying out his professional duties, he was allegedly pushed and attacked by the security personnel. The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger State Council confirmed receipt of the report and is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.

NUJ Chairman Abu Nmodu has reportedly contacted government officials, including the governor's Chief Press Secretary Bologi Ibrahim, to ensure the safety of the affected journalist. Efforts to reach Bologi Ibrahim for comments were unsuccessful at the time of the report.
