Nigeria Approves ₦2.078 Trillion for Road Projects

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) of Nigeria, chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, approved ₦2.078 trillion for 23 road projects during a meeting on Monday. Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced that these projects span various states including Adamawa, Taraba, Ebonyi, Kwara, Cross River, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Oyo, and Plateau.

The initiative is part of a broader commitment to upgrade critical road infrastructure to enhance the efficiency of the national transport network and support economic growth. The FEC also ratified a ₦15 billion augmentation for a road project in Gashua, Yobe State, due to increased construction material costs.

Additionally, a ₦15.246 billion approval was granted for the second phase of the Yola-Fufor-Gurin road project. Umahi revealed that the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway will undergo reconstruction using concrete pavement technology for improved safety and durability.

Furthermore, a ₦34.398 billion contract was awarded to construct an airstrip in Gboko, Benue State, which will serve as a strategic hub for agricultural activities and humanitarian services.
