FG Approves ₦2.078trn for Road Projects Across 10 States

On Monday, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved road projects worth ₦2.078 trillion across ten states as part of the federal government's initiative to modernize the nation's transport infrastructure and stimulate economic growth. The council also approved ₦34.398 billion for the construction of an airstrip in Gboko, Benue State, awarded to CCECC Nigeria Limited.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced that 23 major road projects will cover states including Adamawa, Taraba, Ebonyi, Kwara, Cross River, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Oyo, and Plateau. The projects include rehabilitation and construction of strategic highways to enhance regional integration and economic activity.

Additionally, the council ratified a ₦15 billion augmentation for a road contract in Gashua, Yobe State, due to increased construction material costs. Other approvals included ₦15.246 billion for the second phase of the Yola-Fufor-Gurin road and ₦1.8325 trillion for reconstructing federal highways through a tax credit arrangement with Dangote Group.
