Nigeria Army Changes Command in ECOWAS Guinea-Bissau Mission

The Nigerian Army has executed a change of command in its contingent serving under the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB). Lieutenant Colonel Afam Junior Chidi has assumed command from Lieutenant Colonel Bibode Clarke following a routine troop rotation.

The formal handover ceremony took place at the Nigerian Contingent Headquarters in Bissau, where Lieutenant Colonel Clarke, the outgoing Commanding Officer of Nigerian Company 4 (NIGCOY 4), expressed gratitude to the officers and soldiers for their support during his one-year tenure. He emphasized the contingent's significant contributions to peace, security, and stability in Guinea-Bissau and urged the personnel of Nigerian Company 5 (NIGCOY 5) to maintain high standards of discipline and professionalism.

In his acceptance remarks, Lieutenant Colonel Chidi praised Clarke's leadership and committed to continuing the mission's objectives. The ceremony included the signing of handover notes, inspection of the Quarter Guard, and the formal transfer of the Nigerian Company flag.
