Nigeria's Crude Oil Exports to U.S. Hit 52% in 2025

According to the latest report from the U.S. Census Bureau, Nigeria is projected to supply 46.618 million barrels of crude oil to the U.S. in 2025, representing 52.2% of Africa's total crude oil exports, an increase from 49% in 2024 when it exported 50.793 million barrels.

Despite this rise in share, Nigeria's export volume decreased by 4.175 million barrels, or 8.2%, compared to the previous year. The total value of crude oil exports from Africa to the U.S. is expected to decline from $8.945 billion in 2024 to $6.816 billion in 2025, a drop of 23.8%.

Nigeria's crude oil export value also fell from $4.458 billion in 2024 to $3.545 billion in 2025, a reduction of 20.5%. The report highlights that while Nigeria's share of total crude exports to the U.S. increased, the overall export volume and value have been negatively impacted by U.S. trade policies and tariffs, particularly under the administration of former President Donald Trump.
