Nigeria to Face Ghana in Beach Soccer AFCON Qualifiers

Nigeria's Supersand Eagles will face Ghana in the second round of the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, following a draw held in Egypt on Tuesday. The first leg of the match is scheduled for October 9-11, 2026, while the return leg will take place between October 16-18.

Both teams are vying for a spot in the continental tournament, which will be hosted by Senegal. Nigeria aims to qualify after missing the last edition, having failed to reach the 2024 finals due to a loss to Mauritania on the away-goals rule after a 10-10 aggregate draw.

In that encounter, Nigeria secured a 5-4 victory in the first leg, with contributions from players such as Emeka Ogbonna, Emmanuel Ohwoferia, Taiwo Adams, and Victor Tale. The Nigeria Football Federation has initiated efforts to revive the team after a five-year hiatus, during which Nigeria last participated in a major beach soccer tournament at the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay.
