Nigeria's Fly Eagles Draw Ghana in WAFU B U20 Championship

The Fly Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn against Ghana's Black Satellites, Burkina Faso, and Togo in Group B of the 2026 WAFU B U20 Championship. This tournament will qualify teams for the 2027 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Côte d'Ivoire.

The draw took place on Wednesday, with Nigeria headlining Group B. The Fly Eagles and the Black Satellites are set to renew their fierce rivalry in West African youth football.

Nigeria has a strong record in this competition, having reached the finals of the inaugural edition in 2018 and successfully defending their title in 2022. In the 2024 tournament, Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 in the final.

The Fly Eagles narrowly missed a third consecutive title in the last edition, losing 1-0 to Côte d'Ivoire in the final due to a stoppage-time goal. Preparations for the regional championship are set to begin as Nigeria targets the WAFU B title to qualify for the 2027 U20 AFCON.
