Nigeria U20 Women’s Team Qualifies for 2026 World Cup

The Nigeria U20 Women's National Team, known as the Falconets, qualified for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland after overcoming Malawi with a 3-2 aggregate victory. In the second leg held in Lilongwe, Nigeria faced a tough challenge, initially trailing 1-0 due to a defensive error that allowed a Malawian forward to score.

However, Nigeria's Ifeanyi responded with a powerful strike that rattled the woodwork, and they equalized later in the first half. The match intensified when Malawi scored again, bringing the aggregate score to 2-2.

Coach Mose Aduku made a crucial substitution in the 62nd minute, bringing in Precious Oscar, who capitalized on a defensive mistake by Malawi to restore Nigeria's lead. The Falconets maintained their composure to secure their place in the World Cup, which will take place from September 5-26, 2026.

The team expressed gratitude to Nigeria's High Commission in Malawi for their support during the tournament.
