Malawi U-20 Women’s Team Prepares for Falconets Rematch

The Malawi U-20 women's team is preparing for a crucial return leg against Nigeria's Falconets in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, set to take place in Poland. Malawi suffered a 2-0 defeat in the first leg held at Remo Star Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, where they conceded two second-half goals, including an own goal in the 46th minute and a strike by Kind Ifeanyi in the 57th minute.

Maggi Chombo, a player on the Malawi team, acknowledged mistakes made in the first leg that contributed to their loss, specifically citing a "silly mistake" that led to the own goal. She described the match as difficult and praised her teammates' efforts.

The coach expressed optimism that the team would bounce back and improve their performance, emphasizing the need to correct the mistakes made in the previous game. The return leg is scheduled for Saturday, April 9.
