Nigeria Plans Aviation Hub to Boost Economic Growth

Nigeria is positioning itself to become a major aviation hub to significantly boost its economy, with a focus on enhancing its aviation sector's contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). A business breakfast meeting is scheduled for March 26, 2026, in Lagos, where stakeholders will discuss policies, infrastructure development, and private sector participation in the aviation ecosystem.

The event, themed "Boosting the Aviation Sector's Contribution to GDP," will feature key industry figures, including Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, who is expected to deliver a lead paper. The meeting will include two panel sessions with participants from various aviation sectors, including airlines and airport management.

Notable panelists include Georg Uriesi of Ibom Air, Wale Babalakin of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services, and others. The discussions aim to leverage Nigeria's geographic advantages to grow passenger traffic and enhance operational efficiency, ultimately contributing to economic development.
