Nigeria Prepares for Botswana Trials Ahead of Relays

Nigeria's athletics squad is gearing up for an important test at the Botswana Trials scheduled from April 3-5, 2024. This event is critical for Nigeria as they aim to boost their qualifications for the upcoming 2026 World Athletics Relays, having already secured spots in four relay events: women's 4x100m, women's 4x400m, mixed 4x100m, and men's 4x400m.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria's technical director, Gabriel Okon, expressed confidence in the team's high spirits and training camp efforts to refine baton exchanges and race strategies. The Botswana Trials will also feature formidable local athletes, including Letsil Tebogo and others, and will serve as Botswana's final selection trial.

The event is expected to deliver top-class performances, with the Botswana Athletics Association's president, Oabona Theetso, expressing optimism about the championship's quality. This trial will act as a dress rehearsal for Nigeria as they seek to build momentum ahead of the global showdown in May.
