Nigeria and Germany Sign Bilateral Cooperation Agreement

On Thursday, Nigeria and Germany concluded negotiations for a bilateral cooperation framework, culminating in the signing of an agreement in Abuja. The Nigerian delegation was led by Senator Abubakar Bagudu, the Federal Minister of Budget and Economic Planning.

The framework aims to enhance cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, energy, healthcare, governance, skill development, and private sector development. Ms.

Annett Günther, the German Ambassador to Nigeria, emphasized Nigeria's strategic importance as a partner in Africa, highlighting its leadership role within ECOWAS and the African Union. The partnership is designed to mobilize private capital for sustainable infrastructure and energy projects, as well as youth empowerment initiatives.

Mr. Philip Knill, Deputy Director General of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, accompanied the ambassador.

The collaboration is expected to respond to emerging global realities and prioritize innovation and enterprise investment.
