Nigeria Leads Africa's Oil Production Crude Oil as Output Increases

Nigeria has emerged as Africa's leading oil producer, with a crude oil output of 2.5 million barrels per day in July 2025, exceeding its OPEC quota for the second consecutive month. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL) confirmed drilling activities in the Kolmani area, showcasing the country's commitment to exploring and developing oil and gas resources in the northern region.

The OPEC Monthly Oil Market Report indicated that unless OPEC allies increase output, global oil inventory could decrease by nearly 1 million barrels per day next year. Saudi Arabia, accounting for half of the production increase in July, reduced its output despite estimates suggesting otherwise.

The Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) highlighted progress in the Project 1 MMBOPD Incremental project, emphasizing a collaborative approach to boosting production.
