Shettima Calls Nigerian Youth to Embrace AI Innovation

On Tuesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the importance of Nigerian youth in the artificial intelligence (AI) era, stating that Nigeria is prepared to lead Africa in deploying AI to unlock new pathways for prosperity. His remarks were made during the official launch of the UNIPOD initiative at the University of Lagos, as communicated by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Stanlei Nkwocha.

Shettima stressed the necessity of building a digital foundation to enable innovation in various sectors, including agriculture, health, education, and finance. He noted that AI has the potential to create scalable solutions to address Nigeria's unique challenges.

The Vice President also highlighted the importance of producing knowledge and innovative solutions rather than merely consuming imported technology. He thanked development partners, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, for their support in this initiative, which aims to ensure that Nigeria's youth are prepared for the future and actively engaged in shaping it.
