Nigeria and UN Collaborate for Youth and Women Empowerment

On a recent visit to the State House in Abuja, Nigeria's Vice President Kashim Shettima disclosed the government's commitment to strengthening its partnership with the United Nations to accelerate the empowerment of women and youth across the country. This initiative includes financial support for skill development, job creation, and peace security.

Shettima emphasized that the administration of President Bola Tinubu recognizes the potential of youth as a driving force for growth and development, asserting that they should not be viewed merely as statistics. He reiterated the government's commitment to collaborating closely with the UN to achieve these objectives.

During the meeting, Felipe Paullier, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet with Shettima and highlighted Nigeria's role as a vibrant country with a significant youth population. The discussions underscored the importance of gender equality and youth empowerment in Nigeria's development agenda.
