Nigeria-Philippines Trade Grows 700% in Three Years

Trade between Nigeria and the Philippines has surged by 700% over the past three years, with figures rising from $47 million in 2023 to an anticipated $300 million by 2025. Philippine Ambassador to Nigeria, Mersol J.

Mellejor, announced this growth during the 128th Independence Anniversary celebration of the Philippines at the embassy in Abuja. The ambassador emphasized the importance of strengthening the long-standing diplomatic relationship and expanding collaboration in education, trade, and investment.

Plans are underway to establish a Nigeria-Philippines business council to boost business engagement and unlock new trade opportunities. Mellejor noted that educational cooperation remains a strong foundation for bilateral relations, with ongoing exchanges between the peoples of both nations.

Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Babagana Wakili, reaffirmed the commitment to deepening cooperation with the Philippines and commended the contributions of the Filipino community in Nigeria, particularly in health, education, and technology sectors.
