Nigeria Supports ECOWAS Standby Force with Bus Donation

On a recent visit to Abuja, Nigeria, Brigadier General Sheikh Sulaiman Massaquoi, the Chief of Staff of the ECOWAS Standby Force, met with General Oluyede, the Chief of Defense Staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. During this courtesy call, General Oluyede committed to donating an 18-seater bus to the ECOWAS Standby Force to improve their administrative, logistical, and operational capabilities.

This gesture underscores Nigeria's ongoing commitment to supporting regional peace and security objectives. Brigadier General Massaquoi expressed gratitude for Nigeria's leadership and support in these efforts and requested continued assistance, particularly in advancing rapid support for the ECOWAS Standby Force and the establishment of the ECOWAS Counter-Terrorism Brigade.

He was accompanied by staff officers from the ESF Core Task Force Headquarters and the Peace Support Operations Division of the ECOWAS Commission's Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security.
