Nigeria Achieves 398.99 Million Barrels Oil Output in 2026

According to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigeria produced a total of 398,986,780 barrels of crude oil and condensate from January to August 2026, which represents 72% of the entire 2025 output of 554.4 million barrels. The average daily production during this period was approximately 1.64 million barrels, slightly above the 1.63 million barrels per day recorded for the whole of 2025.

Monthly production figures showed an increase from 1,627,460 barrels per day in January to a peak of 1,735,398 barrels per day in June, before declining slightly in July and August. The NUPRC attributed the production gains to the resolution of operational challenges at key producing assets, including the repair of Single Buoy Mooring issues at the Erha field, and ongoing efforts by operators to maintain asset integrity and evacuation capacity at production terminals.

If the current production pace continues, Nigeria's total output for 2026 could exceed that of 2025, marking a significant annual production performance.
