Nigeria's Oil Production Increases 0.4% in August 2026

In August 2026, Nigeria's crude oil and condensate production increased by 0.4% compared to July, totaling 1,677,777 barrels per day. The National Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), represented by Head of Media and Corporate Communications Eniola Akinkuotu, reported that Nigeria produced 1,500,190 barrels per day in crude oil, successfully meeting its OPEC quota for the fourth consecutive month.

The production range during August varied, with a low of 1.64 million barrels of oil per day and a high of 1.71 million barrels. Key terminals contributed to this output, with Bonny Terminal producing 320.04 kbpd, Forcados Terminal 317.40 kbpd, Qua Iboe Terminal 171.72 kbpd, Escravos Oil Terminal 131.71 kbpd, and Bonga Terminal 92.50 kbpd.

The increase was largely due to resolving operational challenges at the Erha field, which had previously hindered production. Stakeholders are focused on enhancing asset reliability and operational resilience to support ongoing production growth.
