Nigeria Achieves Fourth Month of OPEC Compliance

Nigeria recorded its fourth consecutive month of compliance with the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) crude oil production quota, achieving a crude output of 1,500,190 barrels per day (bpd) in August 2026. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), in a statement signed by Eniola Akinkuotu, reported that total oil production, including condensates, reached 1,677,777 bpd, marking a 0.4 percent increase from July's output of 1,671,456 bpd.

The commission noted that daily production fluctuated between 1.64 million bpd and 1.71 million bpd during August. The improvement was largely due to resolving operational challenges at the Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) at the Erha field, which had previously affected production and evacuation.

Other producing assets remained stable, with Bonny averaging 320.04 thousand bpd, Forcados at 317.40 thousand bpd, Qua Iboe at 171.72 thousand bpd, Escravos at 131.71 thousand bpd, and Bonga at 92.50 thousand bpd. NUPRC emphasized the importance of addressing operational constraints and enhancing asset reliability for sustained production growth.
