Nigeria's Oil Output Increases to 1.678m Bpd in August

In August 2026, Nigeria's crude oil and condensate production rose by 6,887 barrels per day (bpd), reaching a total of 1,677,777 bpd, as reported by the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). This figure represents a 0.4 percent increase from July's production of 1,670,890 bpd.

The NUPRC attributed this improvement primarily to the resolution of operational challenges related to the Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) at the Erha field. In terms of strict crude oil production, Nigeria produced 1,500,190 bpd, successfully meeting its Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota for the fourth consecutive month.

The lowest daily production during this period was 1.64 million bpd, while the highest reached 1.71 million bpd. Bonny Terminal was the largest contributor, producing 320,040 bpd, followed by Forcados Terminal with 317,400 bpd.

The NUPRC noted that the increase reflects ongoing efforts to address operational bottlenecks and enhance production capacity, emphasizing the importance of effective asset management and collaboration among industry stakeholders.
